What is FinMet?

FinMet (operated by Finmet Pte Ltd, a Singapore company) sells physical gold online. You buy real 99.99% Swiss gold in Singapore dollars, in whole grams. Once your payment clears, your grams are allocated to identified bars and the gold is legally yours, held for you in secure, insured professional vaulting in Singapore with an independent vaulting provider (Helveticor). You can buy or sell 24/7 at live two-way prices, hold with free storage for the first three years, sell back with prompt PayNow payout, or redeem your gold either through in-person collection or delivery. Everything is priced, executed and settled in Singapore dollars.

How is this different from an ETF or a gold-linked app?

You are buying real, physical gold and owning it outright — the purchase simply happens online, and your holding is recorded in your account for convenience. It is not a paper contract, a fund unit, a price-tracking token, and it is never pooled. Every gram you buy is allocated to you against identified 99.99% Swiss-made 1-gram bars held by a certified professional vaulting provider: once allocation is complete, title to that metal is yours, and FinMet acts only as custodian safekeeping it on your behalf. You own metal, not a promise.

Do I need an account to see prices?

No. Anyone can browse the site, view our live buy and sell prices, use the Gold Price Checker and build a cart. You only need to create a light sign-up (email, mobile number and password) to save a cart and get started. Identity verification with Singpass happens at your first purchase, not before.

How often do prices update?

Our buy and sell prices refresh from a live gold price feed every 30 seconds or less, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You always see two prices — the price to buy and the price to sell, per gram of 99.99% gold — and the figure keeps updating in real time until you lock a price at checkout.

Do prices change at weekends?

Yes. Our prices keep updating around the clock, but international bullion markets close over the weekend, which makes pricing more volatile and less liquid. To account for that, a 2% surcharge applies to both the buy price and the sell price during the weekend window — from 5:00 pm Friday to 6:00 pm Sunday US Eastern Time, which is roughly 6:00 am Saturday to 7:00 am Monday Singapore time. The surcharge is already built into the all-in price per gram you see on screen, so there is nothing added afterwards, and the price you lock is the price you pay. If you would rather avoid it, trade during the week.

What is the Gold Price Checker?

It's a free tool on our site that helps you judge any gold quote in Singapore. Choose a quantity (1g, 5g, 10g or 100g), enter the total price you were offered, and the checker shows you FinMet's current all-in price for the same amount side by side, so you can see immediately how the two compare. No account is needed, and if our price is lower you can buy immediately at the live price.

Can I use the site in another language or currency?

Yes. For convenience the site may display prices in other currencies (such as SGD, CNY, INR, IDR and USD) and offer translations (Chinese, Indonesian, Tamil and Hindi). These are provided as a convenience only. All transactions are priced, executed and settled in Singapore dollars, non-SGD figures are indicative conversions only, and the English version of our terms and policies always prevails.

Who is behind FinMet?

FinMet is a Singapore company whose leadership brings decades of experience in Asia's physical gold markets, including senior roles in international bullion banking across Singapore, Hong Kong, China and India, alongside digital product expertise. The wider FinMet group also builds gold-market infrastructure for institutions across Asia. You can read more about the team on our About page.

How do I buy gold?

Sign up, verify your identity with Singpass at your first purchase, then choose the number of grams you want — orders are placed in whole grams, starting from 1 gram. The SGD cost at the live price is shown in full at checkout; lock the price and pay by PayNow. Your gold balance updates once payment is confirmed.

Is there a minimum purchase amount?

Yes — the minimum purchase is 1 gram of gold, and all orders are placed in whole-gram increments (1g, 2g, 3g and so on). The SGD cost for your chosen quantity is always displayed at the live price before you confirm, so you know the exact amount payable.

How does the price lock work?

When you're ready to pay, we lock your quoted price for a short window of about five minutes so it doesn't move while you complete payment. If the window passes before you pay, simply refresh to get a new live price and lock again.

How does sell-back work, and how fast do I get paid?

You can sell your gold back to the platform 24/7. Your sale is priced at the live sell price shown on screen before you confirm. Once you confirm, your payout is sent via PayNow to your own verified account, with no need to find a buyer, wait for an auction or ship anything. Sell back proceeds credited within minutes taking upto 48 hours subject to payment and compliance checks. Selling is built into your account.

Where does my sale money go?

Sale proceeds are always paid via PayNow to a PayNow proxy (your NRIC/FIN or mobile number) registered in your own name and matched to your verified identity. Money never goes to a third party. This is a deliberate safety feature: even if someone gained access to your account, funds can only ever reach your own bank account.

Can I cancel a buy or sell order after I confirm it?

Gold prices move constantly, so once you lock a price and confirm, the order is binding and generally cannot be cancelled or reversed. Please check the amount and price before you confirm. You can, of course, sell your gold back to the platform at any time at the prevailing live price.

Is there a holding period before I can sell?

A short one. As an anti-fraud control, gold can be sold back once 24 hours have passed from the time it was credited to your balance. After that, you can sell any time at the live sell price, with proceeds paid via PayNow. Sell back proceeds credited within minutes taking upto 48 hours subject to payment and compliance checks.

How do I pay?

All purchases are paid by PayNow. At checkout we generate a single-use PayNow QR code for your exact order — scan it with your own bank's app, approve the payment, and your gold balance updates once the payment is confirmed, usually within moments. There is nothing to top up in advance and no balance to maintain.

Do you accept card payments?

At this point in time, no. All purchases are made by PayNow, and all sale proceeds are paid back to you by PayNow. If we introduce additional payment methods in future, they will be announced on the site and reflected at checkout.

Why PayNow?

PayNow settles instantly in Singapore dollars, 24/7, directly from your own bank account — no card networks and no chargebacks. It also ties every payment and payout to a proxy registered in your own name and verified through Singpass, which is the backbone of our security model: money can only ever flow between the platform and the verified you.

Can someone else pay for my order, or can I be paid to someone else's account?

No. For your security and to meet anti-money-laundering rules, payments and payouts must match your own verified identity. Funding should come from your own bank account, and all sell proceeds are paid only to a PayNow proxy registered in your own name. Third-party payments and payouts are not accepted.

Which banks work with PayNow?

PayNow is supported by the major participating banks in Singapore. As long as you have a Singapore bank account and have registered your NRIC/FIN or mobile number as a PayNow proxy in your own name, you can pay us and receive payouts. You register your PayNow proxy through your own bank's app or internet banking.

What if my sell-back payout doesn't go through?

If a payout to your verified PayNow proxy fails — for example because the proxy was deregistered or the account name no longer matches your verified identity — we hold the amount for you as a non-interest-bearing balance while we help you re-verify. We may deduct reasonable costs for extended tracing efforts, and unclaimed amounts are handled in line with applicable law.

Can I set up automatic recurring purchases?

Not at this time. PayNow payments are each approved by you, so every purchase is one you confirm yourself — there is no auto-debit. If we introduce a recurring purchase feature in future, it will be announced on the site. For now, buying regularly takes just a few taps at the live price.

Why do I need to verify my identity?

As a registered precious metals dealer in Singapore, we're required to confirm who our customers are before they transact. Identity verification protects you and helps prevent fraud, money laundering and misuse of the platform. You can browse, check prices and build a cart before verifying — verification is needed when you make your first purchase.

How does verification with Singpass work?

When you make your first purchase, you verify using Singpass Myinfo. With your consent on the Singpass screen, we retrieve your government-verified particulars directly from Myinfo: your NRIC/FIN; principal name and any alias, married or Hanyu Pinyin names; sex; race; date of birth; residential status; nationality/citizenship; pass type, status and expiry date (where applicable); employment sector; mobile number; email address; and registered address. Payments and payouts must match your verified identity. We may request further information or documents where required.

Do I need Singpass to use FinMet?

Yes — to buy and sell you need Singpass. Our identity checks and PayNow payouts are both anchored to your Singpass-verified identity, which is what keeps every payout locked to your own bank account. If you prefer, a manual form is available for entering your Singpass particulars yourself instead of using the automatic Myinfo retrieval — note that manually entered details are reviewed by our team before verification is confirmed, so this route takes longer than the instant Singpass flow (typically up to one business day). Without Singpass you can still browse the site and view live prices, but you won't be able to transact.

Why do you collect details like employment sector, race and pass information?

They form part of the customer due diligence we carry out as a registered precious metals dealer under Singapore's anti-money-laundering rules, helping us verify who you are, keep your verification current (for example, pass expiry) and assess risk appropriately. Like all your personal data, these details are retrieved with your consent, kept confidential, and handled in line with the PDPA and our privacy policy.

Is there extra security when I log in?

Yes. Your account is protected by your password plus a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered email, which we require at login and for sensitive actions. Combined with payouts that can only go to your own verified PayNow proxy, this gives your account strong, layered protection.

Are there checks on larger transactions?

Yes. Enhanced due diligence and additional checks are triggered by a “designated transaction,” which under the PSPM Act 2019 includes a sale against payment in cash, cash equivalent or digital payment tokens exceeding a total of S$20,000 (a single sale, or same-day sales to the same customer added together). We may ask for additional information in those cases, on top of the identity verification already completed at your first purchase, and we monitor for “structuring” (splitting large amounts into smaller ones to avoid checks), as required by law.

Will you ever ask for more information later?

Occasionally, yes. Regulations require us to keep customer information current and to review certain transactions. If we need to update or confirm your details, we'll let you know. Providing the information promptly keeps your account active and your buying and selling uninterrupted.

What exactly do I own?

Physical gold — real 99.99% Swiss-made 1-gram bars, allocated to you and owned by you. Your account records how many grams are yours, while the metal itself sits in secure, insured professional vaulting. Title passes to you once your payment has cleared and your grams have been allocated to identified bars. From that point the gold is segregated, held off FinMet's balance sheet, and is not available to FinMet's creditors. FinMet is only its custodian.

When is my gold allocated to actual bars?

Allocation — the recording of your grams against identified physical bars — is completed automatically as soon as your payment clears where we hold sufficient stock, and otherwise within up to two weeks of purchase. Your title begins after cleared payment and completed allocation to identified bars. Where sufficient stock is available, allocation is automatic; otherwise it may take up to two weeks. Physical redemption uses allocated (‘unlocked’) grams, so redemption and delivery become available once allocation is complete.

Can a company buy gold through FinMet?

Accounts on the website are for individuals only, so a company cannot open one and trade through the site. We do work with corporate entities, though, on a bespoke basis. If you are buying on behalf of a company, partnership, trust or other entity, email us at info@finmet.sg and we will arrange it directly with you. Corporate orders involve separate onboarding and diligence, and are priced and documented case by case.

What are the Swiss 1-gram gold bars I own?

They are 99.99% purity gold bars produced by Valcambi SA of Switzerland, one of the world’s largest precious metals refiners and accredited to the LBMA Good Delivery List. Each bar is individually minted and hallmarked. We hold your gold as small 1-gram bars (often produced as divisible combi bars) because they let us allocate metal precisely, gram for gram, to each customer, and we fulfil physical redemptions in standard 10-gram bars.

Where is my gold stored?

Your gold is held in Singapore with Helveticor (SG) Pte. Ltd., an independent specialist precious-metals vaulting and custody provider, at a secure, insured facility on the eastern side of Singapore near Changi, operated to internationally recognised security standards. For security reasons we do not publish the exact address of the vault. Helveticor is a separate company from FinMet — the party keeping the metal is not the party selling it to you. It is segregated, held off FinMet's balance sheet, and is not available to FinMet's creditors. Storing locally supports insured collection and delivery when you want your gold physically.

Do I actually own the gold, or just a claim on FinMet?

You own the gold. Title to the gold passes to you once your payment has cleared and your grams have been allocated to identified bars, and FinMet acts only as custodian safekeeping it for you. Your gold is segregated, held off FinMet's balance sheet, and is not available to FinMet's creditors. In plain terms, the metal is your property, not ours.

What happens to my gold if FinMet were to fail?

Because your gold is allocated to you and held off our balance sheet, it does not form part of FinMet's assets. If FinMet were to become insolvent, your gold remains your property and is not available to FinMet's creditors — it stays with the vault to be returned or transferred to you. This is a core reason we use allocated custody rather than a pooled IOU model.

Is my gold insured?

Yes. The vaulted gold is covered by an all-risks specie insurance policy at full replacement value. This is the specialist type of cover used across the professional bullion industry to protect stored precious metals against risks such as theft and physical loss.

How do I know the gold really exists?

Your grams are allocated to identified physical Swiss 1-gram bars, and the vaulted holdings are independently verified through audits conducted by the vault operator. Your own balance and transaction records are visible in your account dashboard at all times.

How much does storage cost?

Storage is free for three years from the date of each purchase — the Free Storage Period. After that period, storage fees may be introduced at rates published on the site, charged as a small monthly deduction from your gold balance at the published percentage rate, and any unpaid storage charges may be recovered from your stored gold. The prevailing rate will always be published on the site before any fee applies.

Can I take my gold home?

Yes. You can take delivery of your gold as 99.99% Swiss gold bars, in whole multiples of 10 grams only (10g, 20g, 30g and so on). Redemption uses your unlocked grams — gold whose allocation to identified bars is complete, which happens as soon as your payment clears where we hold sufficient stock, and otherwise within up to two weeks of purchase. Redemption is simply you exercising the ownership right you already hold — it is not a new sale. Balances below 10 grams, or amounts between multiples, can be sold back instead.

How do I receive my redeemed gold, and what does it cost?

Two options. You can collect it by appointment at our designated collection point in Singapore for a collection fee of S$50 — no delivery address needed. Or you can have it delivered by insured courier to any address in Singapore for a delivery fee. Either way the charge is shown in full before you confirm the request.

How long does delivery take, and is my gold insured in transit?

Delivery is made by insured courier within Singapore, normally within up to one week of your request being confirmed. Your gold is covered by all-risk transit insurance while it is on its way to you, so it is protected door to door. If you prefer not to wait for a courier, you can collect by appointment instead for a collection fee of S$50.

Is there GST when I take delivery of my gold?

No GST applies to the gold itself. The 99.99% Swiss gold bars we deliver qualify as Investment Precious Metals (IPM) under Singapore's rules — they exceed the 99.5% minimum purity and are produced and hallmarked by Valcambi SA, an LBMA-accredited refiner meeting the IPM criteria. As IRAS provides, a local supply of IPM is exempt, and redemption is the exercise of your existing ownership, so taking delivery of your gold in Singapore does not attract GST on the metal.

Why can some balances only be sold back rather than redeemed?

Physical redemption is fulfilled in whole 10-gram multiples — the practical unit for preparing, insuring and handing over physical bars. If your balance is below 10 grams, or sits between multiples (say 27g, where 20g is redeemable), the remainder can be sold back for a PayNow payout at the live price — or you can keep buying until you reach the next 10-gram step.

Do I get back the exact bars my grams were allocated to?

Not the same physical bars, but the same weight of the same gold. Your balance is held as 1-gram bars, while physical redemption is fulfilled in standard 10-gram bars. So when you redeem, you agree to exchange your allocated 1-gram bars for 10-gram bars: we deallocate the 1-gram bars from your holding and allocate different 10-gram bars to you in their place, of the same 99.99% purity and the same total weight. The swap is gram for gram — you own exactly as much gold before and after, your ownership never lapses, and there is no price, spread or fee for the exchange. It simply means the bars in your hand are 10-gram bars rather than a stack of 1-gram ones.

What fees do I pay?

Our prices are all-in. The live buy price you see is the total price per gram you pay — there is no separate commission, transaction charge or checkout add-on, and nothing is added after you confirm. The same applies when you sell: the live sell price shown is what you receive. Beyond the traded price, storage is free for the first three years from each purchase; collection of redeemed gold is charged at S$50, and insured delivery within Singapore carries a fee shown before you confirm.

How do I know I am getting a fair price?

We publish live two-way prices — the price to buy and the price to sell — side by side, refreshed every 30 seconds or less, so you can always see both sides of the market before you act and compare us against any other provider. Your quoted price is then locked for about five minutes while you pay, so it cannot move against you mid-transaction, and the figure you confirm is the figure you pay.

Why is the buy price higher than the sell price?

Like all physical gold, there is a difference between the buy price and the sell price. It reflects the real costs of sourcing physical Swiss gold bars, fabricating small denominations, vaulting, insuring and operating the platform. We show both prices live and upfront — refreshed every 30 seconds or less — so you always know exactly where you stand before you trade.

What happens if there's a pricing error on my order?

If we identify a manifest pricing or administrative error — one a reasonable person would have spotted at the time — we'll notify you immediately with the corrected price or terms. If this happens before you've paid, you can choose to proceed at the corrected price or cancel with no fees or penalties. If the error is identified after payment or crediting, we'll either adjust the transaction to the corrected price or reverse it with a full refund, and where practicable we'll still offer you that choice.

Is there GST on my gold or on the fees?

No. There is no GST on the gold itself, because our 99.99% purity Valcambi Swiss gold bars qualify as Investment Precious Metals (IPM), which are GST-exempt in Singapore. There is also no GST on our fees: FinMet is not registered for GST, so we do not charge or collect GST on collection, delivery, storage or anything else. The price and any charge you are shown before you confirm is the full amount payable.

Are there any hidden charges?

No. The price you see is the price you pay — our quoted buy and sell prices are all-in, with no commission, no transaction charge and nothing added at checkout. There is no storage fee during the three-year Free Storage Period. The only additional cost is the fulfilment charge if you redeem: S$50 for collection, or the disclosed courier fee if you choose delivery instead.

Does the price include everything?

The price shown at checkout is the all-in price for your purchase in Singapore dollars — there is nothing added after you confirm. Non-SGD prices displayed elsewhere on the site are indicative conversions only.

How is my personal data protected?

We handle your personal data in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We collect what we need for identity verification and our legal obligations — your Myinfo particulars (NRIC/FIN, name and any name variants, sex, race, date of birth, residential status, nationality, pass details where applicable, employment sector, mobile number, email address and registered address), your PayNow proxy identifiers, and information used to match your name before payouts. We have a Data Protection Officer responsible for how your data is handled.

How do I contact your Data Protection Officer?

You can reach our Data Protection Officer at rishi.srinivasan@finmet.io for any questions about your personal data, or to make an access or correction request. The DPO's contact details are also set out in our privacy policy.

Can I access, correct or delete my data?

You can request account closure once your gold balance and outstanding transactions are resolved. We retain records where required by law and our Privacy Policy.

Will you send me marketing, and can I opt out?

Marketing is opt-in — we only send it if you agree. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we comply with Singapore's Do Not Call rules, including for WhatsApp. You can change your marketing preferences at any time.

Is my data ever sent overseas?

Any transfer of your data outside Singapore is done only where comparable protection applies, backed by data processing agreements with our vendors. We disclose our use of cookies and analytics on the site. The English version of our privacy policy prevails.

Is FinMet regulated, and what does that mean for me?

FinMet is registered as a regulated dealer under Singapore's Precious Stones and Precious Metals (PSPM) Act 2019. As the Ministry of Law provides, registered dealers are regulated for anti-money-laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and countering proliferation financing purposes, and the Ministry of Law does not audit, supervise or certify a registered dealer for any other purpose. FinMet is NOT licensed or regulated by MAS, is not a bank, does not take deposits, and does not give financial, legal or tax advice. Your holding is not a collective investment scheme — each customer's gold is specifically allocated with direct ownership and physical redemption available, and no returns are promised. Gold prices can fall as well as rise.

Is FinMet a member of the Singapore Bullion Market Association (SBMA)?

FinMet is a member of the Singapore Bullion Market Association. Membership does not constitute product approval or endorsement.

How do I make a complaint?

Contact our support team via the official support email address with full details and any supporting evidence. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 business days and provide a substantive response within 21 days. If you're not satisfied with the outcome, nothing in our terms stops you from bringing an eligible claim before the Small Claims Tribunal of Singapore.

What happens to my gold if FinMet decides to stop offering its services?

If we ever decide to wind down, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice. During that period you can sell back your balance at standard pricing, or request physical delivery or collection (in 10-gram multiples; smaller balances can be sold back with no sell-back fee). Your gold remains segregated and safeguarded throughout the notice period. Any balance still outstanding afterward is liquidated and the proceeds paid to you in the usual way.
